Ethicalsurfing lives through the voluntary participation of surfers and travellers who want to share experiences and information about the territory where they live and the others visited while travelling. This is why your contribution to the portal is crucial!

Each user and his/her reports of his/her travels will be essential to develop the portal and enrich the database of information about each territory.

First of all you need to be registered to the site and become part of the community, then you can start share your reviews on the information/comments you find out while searching. Above all, you can insert your description of places you visited or you know, dealing with sustainable and fair economy and tourism.

Finally, you can also create your personal diary where you can explain with your words and emotions your travel experiences!

Summerizing, it is possible to partipate through three instruments:

- inserting new data, from the section MAP THE TERRITORY: to map the activities, initiatives, organizations, ecc. dealing with sustainability of each territory;

- giving reviews and comments to other users' posts;

- inserting a travel diary, from the section TRAVEL DIARIES: to describe your experience travelling through a territory and reporting the useful information and suggestions to be shared with the community.

On the other hand, as soon as you enter in the form of a specific place of interest, it will be possible to discover the different categories (one or also more) linked to that place.

For example, a certain B&B belongs to the place of interest “accommodation”, but it can be linked to many types of categories as e.g. “farm” or “creative workshop” (because they also organize a sort of educational path), and so on.

When you "map a territory" by inserting a new form, you will be invited to express the association of that mapped accommodation or place to at least one or more criteria that you find in this section. All of them deal with one or more aspects of sustainability, as environmental protection, social care or local communities involvement.
The criteria are a sort of sign-post of the level of eco-social characterization of each accommodation or place of interest. The mappers can express free opinions, according to their personal evaluation. The following reviews made by other users confirm or not the first posting. In this way, it will be the community by itself to give suggestions to other members, according to the experinces of everyone involved.
