Monte Ceceri is a natural area easily reachable on foot from Fiesole. In the past, this was the site of extraction of stones since at least the XV century. Therefore it was also the center of professionals such as sculptores, stone-cutter or craftmen. Nowadays when all the mines are closed, Monte Ceceri with its 44 hectares is a Natural Park (area naturale protetta di interesse locale), but also a center of archeological industry. It is also an historical site because in piazzale Leonardo it is where Leonardo supposedly performed his first related to the launch of flying machines. A part from this, other interesting sites of this park can be Prato ai Pini, Pelagaccio, Cava Braschi and Cava Sarti.
